I was pleased to welcome you all to my new year open studio-both local regulars and new visitors from near and far, including a couple who had seen my work on exhibition in London and travelled down to visit me in my studio.

Young Musician of Dyfed is a competition for instrumentalists under the age of 19 years that offers all competitors an individual masterclass with some of the country’s leading players. I enjoyed drawing during the masterclasses where Steve Bingham, international violinist and Andrew Wilson-Dickson, composer and keyboard player, gave interesting insights into improving their understanding and performance skills. The three musicians shown above were amongst those selected for the final on Saturday the 25th April at Rhosygilwen. www.ymmd.org.uk
A great concert at Theatr Mwldan in Cardigan a few nights ago-’The Way of the Drum’ showed the amazing range of Mugenkyo’s skills led by founding members Neil Mackie and Miyuki Williams. As ever, my itchy fingers wouldn’t sit still and I filled a concertina sketchbook with drawings made during the performance. Looking forward to developing these into finished paintings in my studio.
Spent the day beavering away with Nick Pudsey in his editing suite to produce a short video about the presentation of commissioned paintings of YV musicians at the O2 Arena, London. This will be another film to put up onto my Vimeo page and will be accessible via my website eventually. It was great to relive the adrenaline flow and excitement of that day in January 2013.
