‘Spring Collection’ exhibition at Art Matters Gallery, Tenby
Just delivered 4 paintings to John and Margaret in sunny Tenby for the first show after their winter break. Always good to feel Spring is on its way! Exhibition runs from February 11th to 28th March. The gallery winter opening hours are 10am to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (Gallery closed on Sunday and Wednesday.) FREE SPIRIT off to new pastures
A painting that is very dear to my heart recently set off to her new home. Bought by a couple who were visiting Cardigan whilst walking the Ceredigion Coast Path, Free Spirit shows a horse enjoying being able to run freely, mane and tail flying, unencumbered from control by man.
The following piece was written when I first became aware of being drawn to horses, about ten years ago:
“Horsepower entrances me.
Their spirit, energy and essence are a constant draw.
To see horses running free with their lively fluid grace and majesty is an uplifting sight. When grazing on rugged exposed open moorland it is possible to observe in them a strong sense of inner ease and freedom of spirit.
Years spent absorbing and learning to ‘see’ them, not knowing how, why or what I had to say, have started to repay me. Seizing the challenge of drawing them from life, I have started on a journey – the resultant quick sketches barely able to achieve more than to grasp at their essence.
Back in my studio, using the power of mark and line it is this distillation of spirit that I strive to express and develop.”

Living for over 30 years by the sea on the rugged coast of Cardigan Bay has had a profound influence on Andie. The strong sense of living on the edge, close to Earth’s primordial energies and cycles of ebb and flow is evident in her work.
The alchemy of her personal vision leads to abstracted paintings on both paper and canvas, using strong, energetic and sensitive mark-making with expressionistic use of colour.
Born in London Andie studied Graphic Design at London College of Printing in the seventies, working in magazine publishing before relocating to west Wales. Her work as a fine artist flourished alongside her interest in Tai Ji Qu’an, an ongoing study that informs both her work and lifestyle.
Elected to the Society of Women Artists in 2012, Andie’s award winning work has been exhibited worldwide including UK, Japan, Ireland, France, Brazil, Canada and USA.

Sketchbook arrived from America!
It’s time to fill in another sketchbook for the SBP in New York. This will be the third time I’ve taken part. Here’s a bit of information about the set-up:
We are an independent Brooklyn-based company that organizes global, collaborative art projects. Our flagship endeavor is The Sketchbook Project, a crowd-sourced library that features 35,418 artists’ books contributed by creative people from 135+ countries. Brooklyn Art Library is our storefront exhibition space in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY where The Sketchbook Project collection is on view to the public. Ocean Art
Excited to be invited to join a new venture OCEAN ART by Jonathan Hall. One aspect of the business is to showcase artists who produce original paintings, including commissions, to yacht and boat owners worldwide. Whilst I don’t paint figuratively, Jonathan liked my expressive original seascape paintings and was excited to add this extra dimension for his customers.
